Volunteers and Visitors

One question we typically get is the difference between a visitor and a volunteer.

  • VOLUNTEERS are adults who assist teachers, administrators, or other staff in public school classrooms, schools, or school district programs who do not receive compensation for their work.
  • VISITOR is a parent, relative, or other adult with permission of the child's parent or guardian who visits the school for a specific event or reason or attends an off-campus school-sponsored event. There is no reasonable expectation that a visitor would be alone with a child other than their own.

Visitors

All visitors must sign in to Hall Pass in the office for each visit. If you have never registered for Hall Pass, you will need to bring your ID in to the office to get set up.

Volunteers

We love our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering within SPS this year you can find all the information you need using this link. Volunteers will need to be approved by the district. We encourage families to complete this process early, as it can take several weeks.

Returning volunteers: A volunteer form is required to be filled out each school year. Background checks must only be completed every 6 years.
